People from Southeast Missouri will walk together to raise money for the Kenny Rogers Cerebral Palsy Center on Saturday, Oct. 28.
The 22nd annual walk will begin with registration at the Kmart store in Sikeston at 9:00 a.m. The walk will start at 10 and end at the Eagles Lodge on Trotter Street where members of the Eagles will provide lunch for participants.
The Eagles are sponsoring the walk and auction as part of their year long commitment to the C.P. Center. They are also seeking new or used items for the annual auction, which will be held that Saturday night at the Eagles Lodge beginning at 6. Items can be donated by calling the C.P. Center at 472-0397 or the Eagles at 471-9913.
Last year the walk and auction raised more than $24,000. This year organizers hope to exceed that amount, stated Pat Duncan, representative of the Ladies Eagles. There are many worthwhile charities, but the C.P. Center is local and it serves area children.
This event will help pay for the services to more than 150 children throughout the region, such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and early childhood special education.
Sponsor sheets can be obtained from local schools, various businesses or by calling the C.P. Center.
