Twenty-two Girl Scouts earned the Gold Award, the organization's highest honor Sunday during a recognition ceremony at First Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau. Former state Rep. Mary Kasten was the keynote speaker.

The Girl Scout Gold Award has five requirements and all demand organizational, time management and leadership skills. Elks Lodge 639 purchased the Gold and Silver Award pins and hosted a dinner for the girls and their families.

Girls earning the award are:

* Christy Abbott is a member of Troop 137 in Perryville. She is a junior at St. Vincent High School in Perryville, and has been a Girl Scout for 11 years.

* Amy Banken is a member of Troop 25 in Cape Girardeau. She is a junior at Notre Dame Regional High School and has been in a Girl Scout for 11 years.

* Bryanna Barrett is a member of Troop 25 of Cape Girardeau and a junior at Notre Dame High School. She has been a Girl Scout for nine years.

* Lindsay Bohnert is a member of Troop 65 in Cape Girardeau and a senior at Notre Dame High School. She has been a Girl Scout for 13 years.

* Trisha Brase is a member of Troop 65 and a senior at Notre Dame High School. She has been a Girl Scout for 12 years.

* Amy Buehrle is a member of Troop 25 and is a junior at Notre Dame High School. She has been a Girl Scout for 11 years.

* Kim Crader, a member of Troop 65 of Cape Girardeau, is a senior at Notre Dame Regional High School. She has been a Girl Scout for 12 years.

* Ashley Crocker, a member of Troop 215 of Cape Girardeau, is a senior at Cape Central High School. She has been a Girl Scout for 13 years.

* Rachel DeWilde, a member of Troop 137 in Perryville, Mo., is a junior at Perryville High School. She has been active in Girl Scouts for 11 years.

* Amber Ellinghouse is a member of Troop 215 in Cape Girardeau and is a senior at Cape Central School. She has been in Girl Scouts for 10 years.

* Melissa Enderle is a member of Troop 25 in Cape Girardeau. She is a junior at Notre Dame High School. She has been a Girl scouts for 11 years.

* Jennifer Golden is a member of Troop 25 of Cape Girardeau and has been in scouting for 11 years. She is a junior at Cape Central School.

* Maria Green is a member of Troop 25 in Cape Girardeau and is a junior at Notre Dame High School. She has been in Girl Scouts for 12 years.

* Lauren Hine is a member of Troop 25 in Cape Girardeau and a junior at Notre Dame High School. She has been active in Girl Scouts for 11 years.

* Jill Lawrence is a junior at Cape Central School and a member of Troop 25. She has been in Girl Scouts for 12 years.

* Jamie Prost is a member of Troop 137 in Perryville. She is a junior at St. Vincent High School in Perryville. She has been in scouts for 11 years.

* Carisa Schlosser is a member of Troop 25 of Cape Girardeau and a junior at Notre Dame High School. She has been in scouting for 11 years.

* Amber Schumer, a member of Troop 137 in Perryville, is a junior at St. Vincent High School in Perryville. She has been in Girl Scouts for 11 years.

* Marlene Werne is a member of Troop 215 of Cape Girardeau and a junior at Central High School. She has been in Girl Scouts for 10 years.

* Suzanne White is a member of Troop 65 in Cape Girardeau. She is a senior at Notre Dame Regional High School. She has been in Girl Scouts for 11 years.
