During his 17-year tenure with Saint Francis, Steve has transformed an organization from the level of care it provides, the population of patients it serves and the employees who carryout its mission everyday, known as the Saint Francis Family.

Under Steve's leadership, Saint Francis' campus has more than quadrupled in size -- from 340,000 to 1.4 million square feet. The Healthcare System now serves more than 713,000 patients in a five-state area. Saint Francis has cultivated a strong relationship with area physicians and developed a growing group of employed physicians, currently totaling more than 200, who provide patient care in 10 regional locations. Saint Francis Healthcare System is the largest employer in Cape Girardeau County.

It's no wonder Saint Francis has been named a "Best Place to Work" by Modern Healthcare magazine six times. Steve has ensured this ministry includes significant charity care and outreach efforts to those who need the most help, totaling $98.7 million in fiscal year 2015.

In 2010, Steve was given the Visionary Leader Award by the Missouri Hospital Association honoring his contributions to the advancement of healthcare in the state. He is a member the Cape Girardeau Rotary Club. He has served on the United Way of Southeast Missouri campaign committee and is a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church.
