CHICAGO (AP) -- The U.S. Department of Justice has filed bribery and conspiracy charges against two U.S. military personnel and several contractors that operated in Afghanistan. CHICAGO (AP) -- The U.S. Department of Justice has filed bribery and conspiracy charges against two U.S. military personnel and several contractors that operated in Afghanistan.

The indictment was unsealed Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Chicago. It alleges that Major Christopher P. West of Chicago and Sergeant Patrick W. Boyd of Rockledge, Florida accepted $90,000 from two different companies to arrange Department of Defense contracts worth more than $1 million.

Four Department of Defense contractors and two contracting companies that operated in Afghanistan during 2004 and 2005 also were indicted on the bribery and conspiracy charges.

West served with the Illinois National Guard at Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan. He was arrested Monday. Boyd was arrested Tuesday.
