SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A southwest Missouri man is suing after two Greene County officials told him to stop sending unwanted emails.

The Springfield News-Leader reported Christopher Cross alleges in his 32-page suit the county’s presiding commissioner, Bob Cirtin, and Sheriff Jim Arnott conspired to infringe on his civil rights.

Cirtin said he and other elected officials have received flurries of emails from Cross on a variety of topics, including general reflections on the national political atmosphere. Cirtin said Cross is “relentless.”

Starting Aug. 21, through several exchanges, Cirtin told Cross to stop emailing him. Cirtin cited harassment and said the sheriff would be notified if Cross didn’t cease.

Arnott also asked Cross to not include him on his email list. Arnott said he won’t discuss a pending lawsuit.
