A three-vehicle accident at the intersection of Broadview and William streets sent two people to the hospital Monday evening.
The accident was called in at 6:29 p.m., Cape Girardeau Police Department Sgt. Rick Schmidt said.
Schmidt said the best police knew Monday night was that the driver of a white Pontiac had "some type of medical issue," which caused her to strike a white PT Cruiser.
The impact spun the PT Cruiser between a stoplight and a crosswalk signal. Schmidt said the driver of the PT Cruiser lost consciousness. The Cape Girardeau Fire Department used the Jaws of Life to extract the driver.
After the impact, Schmidt said, the Pontiac struck a Volkswagen waiting for a light.
The drivers of the Pontiac and PT Cruiser were taken to the hospital by ambulance.
