Southeast Missouri State University's Homecoming Steering Committee has elected junior, Tonya Sanchez of St. Clair, as its 1994 chair.
Sanchez served as a member of the spirit and entertainment committee during Homecoming 1991 and 1992. She was elected co-chair of the spirit and entertainment committee for Homecoming 1993. In that role, she designed events specifically for Residence Life such as bonfires and block parties.
Sanchez said, "We tried a lot of new ideas last year and I hope to implement more this year to boost spirit and increase attendance."
Sanchez' older sister, Kim Sanchez, served as Homecoming Steering Committee chair in 1992. Sanchez is a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority.
Jane Stacy, director of Southeast's Alumni Services, has worked with Sanchez on previous homecoming festivities and said, "I am delighted to welcome her as chair of the Homecoming Steering Committee. She has served well and admirable during the past year. It's also a real thrill to me since her sister, Kim, also was a Homecoming Steering Committee Chair."
Sanchez, daughter of Colleen Marler of St. Clair, is majoring in family life with a minor in gerontology.
