A 17-year-old was recovering from a gunshot wound Wednesday.
Just before 11 a.m., the Perry County Sheriff's Office received a call about a person who had been shot and was at his sister's home at a mobile-home park near Shakertown, a subdivision on Route B south of Perryville, Missouri, the office stated in an email.
Upon arrival at the mobile-home park, deputies and ambulance personnel found a 17-year-old boy, the email stated. The boy said he had been at his parents' house on Nicole Lane in Perryville when Dylan Taylor, 19, of Perryville, who had been visiting, attacked and shot him. The victim escaped to his sister's house, according to the email.
The victim, who was alert, coherent and communicating with officers, was taken by helicopter to a hospital for treatment, the email stated. Perry County Sheriff Gary Schaaf didn't have details on the boy's condition Wednesday afternoon, but said he didn't think his injuries were life-threatening.
Before being transported, the victim identified Taylor as his attacker, the email said, and Taylor was later taken into custody in Perryville in conjunction with the Perryville Police Department.
The weapons have been recovered, and Taylor is being held pending charges, according to the sheriff's office.
A news release from the sheriff's office Wednesday night stated: "We are also looking at two potential conspirators of Taylor and may be charging them as well."
