PADUCAH, KY. -- The American Quilter's Society will hold its 10th annual Quilt Show and Contest April 21-24.

Over 400 prize-winning quilts will be displayed at the Executive Inn in Paducah, Ky.

Quilts from 49 states and 10 foreign countries are entered in the competition with over $70,000 in cash awards going to the quilters in 12 categories.

Meredith Schroeder, president of the society, will give a cash award of $15,000 to the quilter winning the best show award.

The American Quilter's Society, a national organization, has 70,000 members. The organization, based in Paducah, Ky., is in its 11th year.

A preliminary survey indicates there will be more than 30,000 attending the show. A free shuttle bus wil leave the Convention Center every 30 to 40 minutes looping the local motels, hotels and mall area. This service is provided by the McCracken Co. Tourist Commission.
