A fund-raising drive to help pay for the cost of a bone marrow transplant for a Columbia man with acute myelocytic leukemia is in progress, announced the man's brother, Bruce Fox of Kelso.

Fox said his brother, Ron Fox, 34, must undergo the transplant within the next few weeks to stay alive.

Their brother, Eugene Fox of Doniphan, will be the bone marrow donor, said Bruce Fox, who explained they hope to raise $100,000.

Ron Fox, an employee of Union Electric Co. the past seven years, and his wife, Paula, a nurse, are both graduates of the University of Missouri-Columbia. They are the parents of four children ranging in ages from 4 to 11.

Bruce Fox said donations may be made to the Ron Fox Bone Marrow Campaign, Farmer's State Bank, P.O. Box 370, Ellington, Mo. 63638.

Anyone who wishes to help in the fund-raising effort should contact Christy Hargis evenings at 641-5015, or Rod Starns at 876-3020 during the day or 474-9806 evenings, said Bruce Fox.
