Two out of three incumbents facing contested primary races in Perry County on Tuesday, Aug. 6, fared well.
Jay Wengert won nearly 60% of the vote to retain his District 1 seat on the county commission. He tallied 1,246 votes (59.2%) in the Republican primary against the 860 votes (40.8%) won by Jeff Bohnert.
Wengert has no opposition in the November general election.
Incumbent Keith Hoehn tallied the most votes in his Republican primary race with 897 (39.7%). He defeated Rocky Schumer, who picked up 803 votes (35.5%). Damon Lee Dillard had 380 votes (16.8%); and Douglas Martin recorded 180 votes (8%).
There is no opposition in the November general election.
Incumbent Coroner William “Bill” Bohnert narrowly lost to Meghan Buerck-Ellis in the GOP primary. Buerck-Ellis tallied 2,178 votes (51.3%) to Bohnert’s 2,069 votes (48.7%).
There is no general election opposition.
