To the editor:

The evening of Dec. 7 will be one that the Jackson Fire Department will remember for a long time to come. A fire destroyed the McDonald's Restaurant at 2220 E. Jackson Blvd.

Controlling an emergency of this magnitude required that many different agencies, both public and private, be brought together for the common goal of extinguishing the fire.

The Jackson Fire Department publicly thanks the following for their invaluable operational support: Cape Girardeau Fire Department, Salvation Army, Cape County Private Ambulance, Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Missouri State Fire Marshal investigator Bruce Thurlo, John Clifton, Burger King, Sonic Drive-In, Pizza Hut, Rhodes 101, Hardee's, Carolyn Davis, Robin Thompson and Donna Biri.

GARY N. NISWONGER
