Letter to the Editor

The only choice America has is to take action

To the editor:

The war currently being waged by our forces in Afghanistan is not a war against a religion or a race of people. It is an extermination of a disease which threatens to destroy the world as we know it. To sit back and wait for the enemy to become nuclear capable is not an option. We must win this conflict, and it goes far beyond the borders of Afghanistan.

The United States and our allies have been pulled into a position where there are but two choices: action or destruction. Pacifism is not an option. No one wants a war, at least when you don't count our enemies.

I serve my country proudly and will gladly go when the call comes. This war isn't perpetrated against the U.S. military alone. It is a war against the American people and the free world as a whole. The bottom line: If we don't act now, the tragedy of Sept. 11 is a drop in the bucket.
