To the editor:

The Second Marine Division has a proud and unparalleled history of service to America. From Guadacanal through the bloody campaigns of Tarawa, Saipan, Tipian and Okinawa in World War II and continuing with action in the Dominican Republic, Lebanon, Grenada, Panama, the Persian Gulf and Somalia, the Second Division remains as a fighting unit unsurpassed in military annals. The Second Marine Division Association is trying to contact former Marines of the divisions or anyone who served with or was attached to it.

The association is asking Marines of the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s to help lead the association into the next century. Anyone who has contact with former Marines of the Second Marine Division is asked to please pass the word: We need you.
