LETTERS: VETERANS APPRECIATE FLAGS

This article comes from our electronic archive and has not been reviewed. It may contain glitches.

To the editor:

The members of Jackson Memorial Post 10495 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars have noticed that when we read the obituaries in the Southeast Missourian, a small flag is placed beside the name of the deceased if he or she is a veteran.

Many newspapers across the country do this, and we are happy to see that you have adopted it. It tells your readers that the person who has died served our country and our flag with honor and deserves this distinction at the time of his or her death.

As veterans, we believe that the Southeast Missourian deserves our thanks, and we want to tell you.

JACK LATIMER, Past Commander
