CHAFFEE -- Vernon Martin Hinkebein, 71, of Rt. 2 Chaffee, died Monday, April 26, 1993, at the family home.

He was born Jan. 10, 1922, at Lambert, Mo., son of Theodore Martin and Olivia Frances Glastetter Hinkebein.

He was married to Anita Mary LeGrand, Jan. 11, 1949. She died Aug. 6, 1991.

Hinkebein was a farmer for 50 years in Blomeyer Area until he retired in 1984. He was a member of the St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee and the St. Ambrose Men's Club.

Survivors include two sons, Ted Hinkebein of Florissant, Mo., Charles Hinkebein of Chaffee; four daughters, Charlotte Dirnberger of Chaffee, Frances Horrell of Ste. Genevieve, Mo., Georgia Thiele of Leopold, Mo., Debbie Gaines of Oran; three brothers, Ralph Hinkebein of Cape Girardeau, Richard Hinkebein of Kelso, Willard Hinkebein of Scott City; and 16 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and three brothers.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus Rosary will be at 7:30 p.m.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee, with the Rev. Allan Saunders officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Ambrose Catholic Cemetery.
