Homecomers

Jackson will be the scene for food, fun and fellowship this week as the city hosts its annual Homecomers event.

This is the 105th Homecomers, and if past years are any indication this should be fun festival atmosphere. There will be musical entertainment, carnival rides, food and other activities for the whole family to enjoy.

It kicks off at 6:30 tonight when Mayor Barbara Lohr gives a welcome speech. The Jackson Municipal Band will hold a concert from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m., and the Senior Notes band will perform at 8 p.m.

Wednesday will feature the Senior Idols, a singing competition for those age 55 and older. A Gospel Sing will be held at 8 p.m.

Thursday is Armband Night. A $20 armband can be purchased to participate in unlimited midway rides. The talent show starts at 6:30 p.m.

The final competition for the talent show will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday. The River Cats will perform at 8:30 p.m.

The final day of festivities is Saturday. Senior Idol winners will perform at 6:30 p.m. and the Motown Review will help cap off the week with an 8 p.m. performance.

Thank you to the organizers for helping make this event happen. Homecomers is one of the highlights of summer for this area. We encourage you to attend.
