Letter to the Editor

Great Girl Scout story

I read an article in the Jan. 29 Southeast Missourian Jr. on school reports and was very impressed by the report on the Clippard Girl Scout Troop. It was very well written, informative and showed readers truly what Girl Scouting is about. Reagan Snider did an excellent job of reporting on her troop and should be commended. Kudos to you, Reagan.

As a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts of America and a Girl Scout for 52 years, I, as many other Girl Scouts in the area, would like to see more articles about what our troops are doing. Since our Otahki Council was combined with the Springfield council, we do not feel involved in the Girl Scout movement anymore.

Our council was always very active with an excellent staff and a group of very dedicated and experienced volunteers. Everyone had bonded in being involved in different areas in the council. We miss the friendship and involvement with other adult scouts and the girls.

The Clippard Girl Scout Troop leader, Mrs. Onica Harris, and her helper, should be congratulated on a job well-done with teaching the principles of Girl Scouting to their troop.

CAROLYN GOODIN, past president, Otahki Girl Scout Council, Cape Girardeau
