Be informed

On Aug. 7, voting-age adults will be asked to make some serious decisions at the polls.

If you're like most people who value the importance of voting (as you should), there are probably some races that are much more important to you than others. Maybe you feel strongly about the 8th Congressional District race, or perhaps you want to support a friend who is running as one of the 13 Republican candidates for public administrator.

Please don't limit yourself at the ballot box by being uninformed about other races.

For the past several weeks the Southeast Missourian has written stories about local races, from sheriff races to representative races to county commission races. These races are all important. Stories will continue to be published throughout this week, and next Sunday we will publish candidate profiles of all our local candidates who chose to participate. In addition, there have been numerous paid election letters in which candidates have expressed their views and community members have offered their support or criticism of candidates.

If you've missed any of our coverage, fear not. At www.semissourian.com/election, you can find all of our election coverage for this year's primary.

For local elections, this is the biggest election of the year. No place informs readers better than local newspapers. We hope you take advantage of all of the information.
