Marble Hill Habitat

The first Habitat for Humanity house in Bollinger County will be constructed, thanks to a $100,000 donation from Stan Crader of Crader Distributing Co. The house will be built in Marble Hill, Mo., using the Habitat formula of providing affordable housing for families who invest sweat equity as well as a small down payment. The house will be financed by Habitat for Humanity at no interest.

The Marble Hill project is a satellite project of Cape Area Habitat for Humanity, which has had an ambitious construction schedule in recent years.

Crader's donation to the project was a family decision, he said. "My whole family has been blessed here."

The average cost for a Habitat home built in the U.S. is about $60,000. The organization is looking for a manager to oversee the Marble Hill project, along with at least 20 volunteers to help build the home.

Anyone interested in that project or any of the other Habitat projects can call the Cape Area Habitat for Humanity office at 573-334-9728. All offers of assistance will be greatly appreciated.

And hats off to the Crader family for its generous donation to a project that will have lasting value for years to come.
