Letter to the Editor

Scripture is clear on nonbelievers

To the editor:

A Speak Out comment said, "Jesus may be your Savior, but he isn't mine." To such a statement the inspired Scriptures would say the words of Christ: "If you believe not that I am he (the promised Savior), you shall die in your sins." Or, "He that believes and is baptized shall be saved, but he that believes not shall be damned." Anyone who denies these and other scriptural facts is calling Christ a liar -- a pretty serious accusation.

Another comment criticized conservatives and called them hypocrites. This is narrow-minded. There have always been hypocrites everywhere. There were hypocrites in the first congregation in Jerusalem, in the Old Testament church and in American history. Don't condemn all Christians and conservatives because of the actions of some.
