River Campus: Wow!

First there was the anticipation of the buildings being completed. Then the anticipation turned to hype about the performances. Now the performances have turned into rave reviews.

Southeast Missouri State University's River Campus, in its first couple of weeks, has delivered the goods.

By all accounts, "Big River" was a wonderful show. And more recently, the Shaolin Warriors -- the first touring show at the new performance arts facility -- put on a martial arts spectacle, captivating the sellout crowd with mesmerizing feats of strength and physical discipline.

Tonight, the American Indian Dance Theatre will perform at the Bedell Performance Hall on the River Campus. Like the Shaolin Warriors, the Bedell performance hall will be full.

The Cape Girardeau community has shown that there is a demand for cultural entertainment. Aside from minor grumblings over parking and the cool temperature inside the performance hall, there are only two major problems with the performances:

1. The university has set high standards for the River Campus in its first two weeks.

2. These excellent shows will be missed by procrastinators who don't buy tickets early.

Those are some good problems to have.
