Letter to the Editor

Most destructive, ineffective president

To the editor:

In a letter to the editor, William Twain claims that overwhelming evidence supports President Bush's invasion of Iraq and condemns all news sources that disagree with the fundamentalist right.

Most credible sources, including the 9-11 Commission, now reject any connection between Saddam Hussein and al-Qaida, and most Americans believe the war in Iraq is a fiasco.

CBS, ABC, NBC and CNN did not cherry pick intelligence in order to go to war with a country that, according to Bush aides, would welcome us with open arms.

While fundamentalist Iranian extremists bankrolled terrorists and began the development of nuclear weapons, President Bush at the behest of our own fundamentalist extremists elected to launch a crusade against a dictator whose teeth had already been pulled.

Having voted twice for George W. Bush and for Republicans for most of my life, I do not qualify as a wacko left winger.

The president once attempted to say, "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." Well, shame on me. I consider this president the most destructive and ineffective in my lifetime and probably for the last 150 years.

Aside from the obvious blunder in Iraq, this president has shown less respect for our beloved constitution and the wishes of those who created it than any other president.

Many patriotic citizens condemn this administration for its incompetence, and if that means being called bad names and labeled the "kook fringe" by the likes of Limbaugh and O'Reilly, bring it on.
