The Crusaders posted a 62-58 victory.
The Saxony Lutheran boys basketball team overcame a slow start to defeat Perryville 62-58 in the championship of the Chester (Ill.) Invitational on Saturday.
The Crusaders (12-3) fell behind 19-12 after one quarter and trailed 30-29 at halftime.
Saxony Lutheran led by three heading into the fourth quarter and held on for the win.
Saxony Lutheran coach John Daniel said the game gave his program a chance to face a team it has been trying to schedule for the past few seasons. The school, located in Fruitland, draws several students from Perry County.
"It was really special for our seniors to get a chance to play Perryville," he said.
Casey Petzoldt and Tim Lorenz scored 18 points apiece to lead the Crusaders. Lauren Lueders added 13 and Alex Jauch had 10.
Petzoldt and Lueders each made the six-player all-tournament team.
Rick Dunn led Perryville with 24 points and Tyler Bauwens added 16.

Kamden Rampley and Ben McMillian both won individual titles, as Jackson's wrestling team took third at the St. Charles West Tournament.
Rampley went 8-0 at 215 pounds and remained undefeated this season. McMillian was 7-0 at 145 pounds.
"Ben and Kamden wrestled really, really good," Jackson coach Steve Wachter said. "Kamden had some great matches. He won in overtime in the finals."
Russel Brown finished second at 140 pounds and Sean Gant was second at 152 pounds.
Both Brown and Gant were 6-2.

Tyer Yeargain finished first at 130 pounds to lead Central to an eighth-place finish at the 16-team St. Charles Tournament.
Yeagain finished 4-0 for the title. Each weight class was set up in a 16-wrestler bracket.
Chris Griffith finished second at 112, Matt Latham was third at 125, Zach Wilson was fourth at 135, Matt Smith was seventh at 160 and Brandon Reynolds was eighth at 119.
Central had wrestlers entered in just 10 of 14 weight classes due to injuries.
"Only competing with 10 kids and having seven place, I feel good about that," Central coach Josh Crowell said.
Courtney Schuessler led the Tigers with 14 points in a home win.
Central (4-9) led 26-14 at halftime and opened up a comfortable 39-18 lead heading into the fourth. Wendi Zickfield added nine points and Tierra Walker had eight.

Jackson remained undefeated with a dominating road win in a game which pitted the top two teams in the SEMO girls top 10 poll.
The Indians, ranked No. 1 in the poll, improved to 12-0. Doniphan fell to 12-2.
Junior center Amanda Peiffer had a game-high 27 points for the Indians. No other player had more than eight points for Jackson.
"The biggest thing is she runs so well for her size," Jackson coach Sam Sides said. "She beats post players down the floor."
Jackson took control of the game right from the start, building a 17-4 first-quarter lead and led by 19 at halftime.
The Indians will play Webster Groves on Monday in the MLK Classic at Maryville University in west St. Louis County.
