The River Eagle Budweiser men's slow-pitch softball team captured the World Amateur Sports Association Missouri State Tournament held recently in Rolla.

Budweiser drew a first-round bye and then went on to win four straight games to capture the title.

Budweiser won by scores of 17-11, 20-6 and 23-19 to reach the finals, where the squad knocked off Custom Printing from Owensville 23-20 to claim the championship.

Players contributing to the Budweiser title were Jeff Steffens, Scott Ponder, Chad Callis, Greg Turner, Brian Friga, Brad Elfrink, Ron Cook, Paul Sander, Brad Noel, Ed Rinda, Eddie Rhodes and Billy King.

This year's state title follows Budweiser's National Softball Association state championship in 1997. Budweiser now has a record of 80-16 going into the National ASA and National WASA tourneys, to be held in September.
