The Jim May era at Perryville High School opened with a win Friday night.
The Pirates attacked Pacific on the ground, rolling to a 23-2 victory in the football opener for both teams.
"It's always nice to win the opener," May said. "We didn't play as well as we would have liked, but a win is a win."
The Pirates opened the scoring in the first quarter when quarterback Josh Perreault raced 94 yards for a score. He led the team with 101 yards rushing on eight carries. He also completed five passes for 15 yards.
Perryville added a pair of rushing touchdowns in the third quarter, the first a 10-yarder by Michael Bachmann. Brent Roth, who finished with 66 yards rushing on 18 carries, scored the team's third touchdown, a 2-yard run.
Ben Prevallet capped the Perryville scoring with a 30-yard field goal in the fourth quarter.

Chaffee scored 22 points before halftime, then added 14 in the third to run away with it.
Collin Dannenmueller and Chris Thomas both scored two touchdowns, while Trenton Horman added one.
"Defensively we played pretty well," Chaffee coach Charlie Vickery said. "For a first game, as untested as we are with a lot of young guys, after getting our feet wet, I thought we played pretty well."
