ORAN, Mo. — Oran third baseman Lily Knotts drove in six runs while Molly Spane earned the win on the mound after punching out 10 batters in a 12-2 win over Oak Ridge on Wednesday, March 29 at Oran High School.

Knots finished 2-for-4 and Spane threw all five innings, allowing one earned run on five hits and no walked batter. Spane also went 2-for-2 at the plate with three RBIs and two runs scored and was walked twice.

“It was a nice win,” said Oran coach Jim Eftink. “We seemed to be more focused and got some big hits from Molly Spane and Lily Knotts, who drove in most of our runs. [Spane] had her first best outing of the year despite giving up a few hits here and there. Her pitches were working late in the game and she stayed ahead in the count. That was important because it allowed her to mix things up.”

Dalaini Bryant and Bralynn Morgan each added two hits and each scored four runs, while Kendall Burger and Ava Knotts had the team’s final two hits.

“Oak Ridge is very much improved from last year,” Eftink said. “We played Leopold yesterday and those two teams have been down for a few years but you watch them play and you can see that their coaches have their programs heading in the right direction.”
