The Notre Dame girls basketball team continued its late-season run with a first-round win at the Class 4 District 1 tournament at Sikeston.

Fourth-seeded Notre Dame held off fifth-seeded Sikeston 57-53 in Tuesday night's first round, giving the Bulldogs eight wins in their last 10 games.

Kristain Burger led the Bulldogs (14-11) with 22 points, followed by Meridith Medlin with 19.

"We didn't play real well, but at least we won," Notre Dame coach Jerry Grim said.

The Bulldogs will play top-seeded Fredericktown at 6 p.m. Thursday in the semifinals.

Also Tuesday, third-seeded Perryville beat sixth-seeded Ste. Genevieve 45-33. Amber Hacker led the Pirates (17-7), who have won 13 of their last 15 games, with 21 points. Hacker and Krista Meisner each reached the career 1,000-point milestone.

Perryville will play second-seeded Dexter at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the semifinals.

Saxony Lutheran celebrated the school's first senior night by hammering Marquand for its 20th victory.

The Crusaders (20-5) honored four-year starters Lauren Lueders, Casey Petzoldt, Trey Maevers and Tim Lorenz in their final home game.

Petzoldt scored 28 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, Maevers added 10 points, and Lueders contributed 10 assists with no turnovers. Junior Alex Jauch led the way with 35 points.

The Crusaders improved to 11-0 against Class 1 schools.

Meadow Heights wrapped up its second straight Mississippi Valley Conference regular-season title with a perfect record.

Anthony Bollinger poured in 32 points for the Panthers (18-6, 7-0). The senior point guard hit 14 of 17 field-goal attempts. He is shooting 68 percent for the season.

Heath Fulton scored 23 points for the Panthers, while Nathan Revelle hit five 3-pointers and added 21 points. Terry Wagner scored 12 points.

Steven Dooley made six 3-pointers and scored 19 points for Chaffee (4-15). Adam Horton also had 19 points, followed by Andrew Hendrix with 13 and Augi Orr with 10.

Portageville outscored the host Rams 9-2 in overtime.

Trey Mosby led five Portageville players into double figures with 25 points.

"They just shot the ball a little better than we did," said Scott City coach Lance Amick, whose team had a 38-23 edge in rebounds. "We just couldn't find a way to win."

Alex King led the Rams (9-13) with 21 points. Rynn Eskew added 11 points, while Ethan Watkins had 10.
