Lindenwood leads NAIA regional at Dalhousie

Lindenwood gained an eight-stroke advantage over second-place Missouri Baptist after two rounds of the NAIA Region V golf tournament at Dalhousie Golf Club on Monday.

The nine-team tournament will conclude today with another 18 holes. The first group will tee off at 8 a.m.

Lindenwood, ranked No. 14 in the most recent national poll, shot 292 on the first 18 and 295 in the second round for a total of 587. Missouri Baptist, ranked 10th in the national poll, followed with a 296-299--595. Williams Woods rounded out the top three with a 305-310--615.

Lindenwood claimed the top three individual scores after 36 holes. Kyle Gray and Brock Robillard were tied for first place at 1-over-par 145, and Robin Vallis was tied with Missouri Valley's Caleb Flaxey for third with a 147.

Erik Rios of Missouri Baptist rounded out the top five individual scores with a 148.

The winning team will receive an automatic berth in the NAIA national tournament May 16 through 19 at Prairie Highlands Golf Course in Olathe, Kan. The second-place squad will likely receive an at-large bid.
