The Poplar Bluff Lady Mules took advantage of their superior depth to wear down the New Madrid County Central Lady Eagles and take a 67-26 victory Friday in a makeup girls basketball game at the Poplar Bluff High School gym.
Poplar Bluff (9-12) led 12-6 after the opening period, but outscored the Lady Eagles 17-3 in the second quarter to take a 20-point lead (29-9) to the locker room. The Lady Mules then outscored NMCC 23-7 in the third quarter to lead 52-16 by the start of the fourth quarter, which had a continuously running clock.
Adrianne Casey led Poplar Bluff with 14 points, while Madelyn Eads and Kennedy Zgaynor each had nine and Julissa Johnson added eight. Overall, 10 players scored for the Lady Mules.
Emani Summers led the Lady Eagles with 14 points, while Destiny Hughes had eight.
Poplar Bluff hosts Dexter Monday, while NMCC hosts Cape Central.
