Kelly girls advance to semifinals

Kelly remained unbeaten with a 64-36 over Charleston on Tuesday night in the first round of the Twin Rivers Tournament in Broseley, Mo.

Kelly Essner scored 15 points to lead three players in double figures for third-seeded Kelly, which improved to 7-0. Brittany Ponder added 12 points, and Mindy Robert finished with 10. Kelly led sixth-seeded Charleston 19-6 after one quarter and held a 38-15 advantage by halftime.

Sytoria Davis scored a game-high 25 points for Charleston.

The Hawks will face second-seeded Doniphan, a winner of Sikeston, in tonight's semifinals. Top-seeded Dexter will face the Kennett-Greenville winner in the other semifinal. The championship game will be played at 8 p.m. Thursday.

St. Vincent took the lead with two free throws with 11 seconds remaining only to have Festus win the game from the line with less than two seconds left.

The Indians (2-4) trailed by as many as nine points with less than four minutes remaining. Alex Armbruster led St. Vincent with 18 points, and Danny Rellergert and Jacob DeWilde had 10 apiece.
