Jackson got an impressive pitching performance from Dusty Roberts at Capaha Field Saturday afternoon to move into the consolation final of the SEMO Conference Baseball Tournament.
Roberts pitched a complete-game three-hitter, with four strikeouts and no walks, as the fifth-seeded Indians eliminated Scott City -- the ninth and last seed -- 9-1.
"Dusty did a real good job changing speeds," said Jackson coach Sam Sides.
The Indians (8-9) had just five hits, but were aided by shaky defense by the Rams (5-10). Losing hurler Jason Umfleet gave up all nine runs -- but just two earned -- on four hits in 5 1/3 innings. He fanned three and walked four.
Lance Limbaugh had two of the Indians' five hits while Joey Beard drove in two runs.
Jackson will meet Poplar Bluff in Monday's 3:30 p.m. fifth-place contest. Sixth-seeded Poplar Bluff eliminated seventh-seeded Dexter 15-11 Saturday.
Poplar Bluff (9-14) got three hits and four RBIs from Josh Smith while Chris Smith belted a home run. Adam Reynolds was the winning pitcher in relief.
Derek Burnett went 4-for-4 to pace Dexter.
In an earlier consolation game Saturday, Dexter eliminated eighth-seeded Kelly 9-7.
Kelly (8-9) got three hits apiece from Tyler Schlosser and Drew Moore. Garrett Stricker was the losing hurler, allowing six hits and five runs (all earned) in 2 1/3 innings.
Jason Mayer was the winner for Dexter. Cody Boyer had three hits for the Bearcats and Chase Kennedy homered.
