COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Jackson's Brad Hilbert scored 37 points, but it wasn't quite enough as the Indians fell 89-86 in overtime to the Columbia Hickman Kewpies Saturday.

Hilbert made four of Jackson's nine three-pointers. Seth McDowell added 20 points, while Nate Brown pitched in with 10.

Jackson led 18-15 after the firstquarter and 43-39 at halftime. Hickman outscored the Indians 20-13 in the fourth quarter as the game was knotted at 78 at the end of regulation. The Kewpies won the overtime battle 11-8.

Lance Harris scored 22 points to lead Hickman. Jason Ellis, Zac Schlader and Abe Bahadorf each scored 17.

Cape Central Jr. High

Cape Central's boys teams swept Egyptian Saturday, winning both the `A' and `B' games.

Larenzo Braxton scored 27 points as Cape Central won the 'A' game 58-25. Brandon Twiggs added 16 points for Central, which improved to 6-3.

In the 'B' contest, Chris Miller and Brett Cardin each scored 10 points as Cape won 34-25. The 'B' team improved to 4-0.

WRESTLINGJackson takes third

ST. CHARLES, Mo. -- In what is regarded as the second most difficult wrestling tournament in the state, the Jackson Indians took third place at the 12-team St. Charles West Tournament.

The Indians had 12 wrestlers finish in the top eight, including Ray Goodson (215) and Brett Stroud (130) who took first places.

"We wrestled real well against some real good competition," said Jackson coach Steve Wachter. "I thought we could've wrestled better in some areas, but overall it was an oustanding tournament."

Farmington took first place with 294 points, followed by St. Charles West with 253 and Jackson with 231 1/2.

Brock Howard (103), Mark Wade (171) and Luke Wade (Heavyweight) each took third place; Michael Wright (119), Ricky Feiner (135), James Love (152) and Seth Harrell (189) each finished fifth; Willie Southerland (160), Chris Brown (145) finished seventh and Justin Wright (140) finished eighth.

Jackson JV takes first

ST. LOUIS -- Jackson's junior varsity wrestling team blew away the competition, taking first place at the eight-team McCluer North Tournament.

All 13 wrestlers placed for Jackson as the Indians finished with 277 points, 82 points ahead of second-place McCluer North.

Taking first place titlers were: Cody Crites (125), Matt Jackson (135), Ryan McCormick (145), Lance Berry (152), Matt Kahle (171), Gabe Koehler (189) and Colby Lohmann (215). Shawn Hinkebein (140) and heavyweight Curtis Ackman (heavyweight) each took second; Greg Ludwig (130) and Jeremy Loenneke (119) finished third; Travis Niswonger (103) ended up fourth and Cameron Lacy (160) took sixth.

"We're really proud of them," said Jackson junior varsity coach Jerry Golden. "We competed hard this weekend against real good competition."
