Trevor Haas hit a double and drove in four runs to lead the Notre Dame baseball team to a 9-1 victory over Shawnee, Illinois, on Saturday in the Notre Dame Showcase.

Ethan Hunter was the winning pitcher for Notre Dame (9-6). He threw a complete game and gave up one earned run. He struck out six and walked one batter.

Jake Edwards added two doubles and three RBIs for the Bulldogs.

Hunter Smithey sustained the loss on the mound for Shawnee (5-10). He threw four innings and allowed eight runs (seven earned) on nine hits. He had three strikeouts and two walks.

Erica Townsend pitched a complete game to take the loss for New Madrid County Central (10-8). She allowed two earned runs, struck out nine and walked two batters.

Bella Bowers hit a three-run home run to lead the Rams in the five-inning victory over the Redbirds in their final game of pool play in a game that saw a total of six home runs hit.

Kaileigh Dirden was the winning pitcher and also hit a two-run home run for Scott City (16-2). She threw a complete game and allowed three earned runs with five strikeouts and two walks.

Tori Buckner had a two-run home run and Britney Parker hit a solo home run to round out the Rams' sluggers. Scott City finished 3-0 in pool play to earn the bid to play in the championship game against Kennett.

Jaden Douglas tossed two innings to take the loss for East Carter County (7-10).

Oran defeated Malden 4-2 in their first game of the day and then beat Bismarck in their final pool play game to finish 2-1, which sent the Eagles to the third-place game where they lost to West County.

Kansas Relays

The Jackson boys finished second in the 3,200 relay to fare the best for the Indians over the weekend at the Kansas Relays in Lawrence, Kansas.

The Indians' pact of Gabriel Dudley, Joseph Reed, Alex Phillips and Caleb Bess finished exactly four seconds behind Blue Springs. Dakota Maddox placed fourth in the pole vault with a distance of 15 feet, 6 inches.

On the girls' side, Jackson (Carli Knott, Megan Barnum, Ana Compton and Chelsea Drum) placed eighth in the 6,400 relay.
