ORAN, Mo. -- Considering that the teams were the top two seeds, it seemed only fitting that Twin Rivers and Notre Dame would battle to the wire Friday night in the championship game of the Oran Invitational boys basketball tournament.

Top-seeded Twin Rivers wound up emerging with the title by holding on for a 54-53 victory over the second-seeded Bulldogs.

In other tournament games Friday, fifth-seeded Scott County Central nabbed third place with an 82-74 win over No. 6 Bell City and No. 7 Oran concluded an impressive tourney by claiming consolation honors (fifth place) with a 75-63 victory over No. 8 Richland.

Notre Dame, which fell to 2-1, got a game-high 27 points from Jonathan Ressel, but that performance was not enough to lift the Bulldogs in a game that was extremely tight throughout.
