Fresh off their second-place finish in Class 3, Saxony Lutheran seniors Brianna Mueller and Raegan Wieser are among eight local standouts on the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association's all-state list from the 2015-16 season, which was released Wednesday night.
Mueller wrapped up her final varsity season averaging a team-high 16.3 points per game. She shot 49 percent from the field, including 43 percent (69 of 158) from 3-point range.
Wieser, a 5-foot-11 guard, missed most of the season recovering from an ACL injury but returned for the final 13 games of the season, scoring 12.2 points per game during that time. She shot 47 percent from the floor and 80 percent at the charity stripe.
Scott County Central's Johneisha Daniel (Class 2) and Oran's Leah Cauble (Class 1) also received all-state honors in girls basketball.
Daniel concluded her sophomore year as the leading scorer for the Braves, who defeated Chaffee 56-51 for the Class 2 District 1 championship.
Cauble was one of the area's top offensive threats in her first varsity season, finishing her freshman campaign averaging 25.5 points and 4.9 assists per game.
On the boys side, John Gibbs Award winner Al Young, a Cape Central senior, earned all-state honors in Class 4. Young, a Southeast Missouri State football signee, averaged 21.7 points and 8.3 rebounds in his final varsity season.
Sikeston sophomore Fred Thatch was named the Class 4 Player of the Year.
Advance junior Dawson Mayo (Class 1), Bell City junior Cole Nichols (Class 1) and SCC senior Jeffery Porter (Class 2) also earned all-state honors in boys basketball.
The 6-foot-3 Mayo was one of five Hornets who averaged double figures and the only who averaged a double-double. He shot 52 percent from the field, averaging 13.4 points and a team-leading 10.7 rebounds per game.
Nichols, a 6-foot guard, was the Cubs' leading scorer. He averaged 21 points per game and shot 73 percent from the free-throw line.
Porter wrapped up his senior season as the top scorer on a Braves team that finished runner-up in Class 2 District 1. He was the Class 2 Player of the Year as a junior when SCC won a state championship.
