DELTA -- Delta's boys basketball team bounced back from a two-point loss suffered Tuesday with a resounding 69-36 victory over Leopold on Wednesday.

Four Bobcats reached double figures as Delta improved to 12-7 on the season. The win helped ease the sting of a narrow 70-68 loss suffered to Marquand the night before.

"They played pretty well," said Delta coach Nate Crowden. "They looked a lot better than they have in a good while."

For Delta, Kenny Gaebler and Garrett DeBrock both scored 12 points and Sammy Below and Jeremiah Cook both tallied 11.

Matt Beussink scored a game-high 13 points for Leopold.

Delta built a 27-4 lead in the first quarter and never looked back.

Delta returns to action Tuesday when Woodland visits.

Cape Central freshmen advance

JACKSON -- Cape Central's boys advanced to Saturday's championship game of the Jackson Tournament with a 65-51 victory over Farmington.

Central's Donnie McClinton scored 16 points and Corey Lewis added 15.

Central (11-4) will face today's Jackson-Charleston winner Saturday at 1:45 p.m.
