Central came home from Saturday's Class 4, District 1 track and field meet at Northwest High School in Cedar Hill with a pair of second-place team finishes.

The Central boys second to Poplar Bluff, while the Central girls were behind Lindbergh.

Jackson was sixth in the boys and fourth in the girls.

The top four individual finishers advance to this Saturday's sectional at Parkway South.

The Central girls swept the individual distance events in addition to wins in the 3,200 and 1,600 relays. Jennifer Pancoast won the 1,600-meter run, Holly Shaffer won the 800 and Linnea Woldtvedt won the 3,200. Nicole Jackson added a win in 200-meter dash.

The Central boys won the 800- and 1,600-meter relays. The Tigers added three victories in field events: Darren Neels won the discus, Mark Egbuka won the shot put and Xavier Delph won the triple jump.

Jackson's lone first-place finish was a win in the girls 400-meter relay.Class 4 District 1

Class 2 District 1

Loren Groves won four district titles for Scott City at the Class 2 District 1 meet in East Prairie.

Groves won the discus, the shot put, the 100 hurdles and the 300 hurdles. Groves' time in the 100 hurdles (15.21 seconds)was a personal record and school record.

The top two in each event qualify for the state meet Friday and Saturday in Jefferson City.

Class 1 District 1

The Saxony Lutheran boys team capped its inaugural season by finishing second at the meet, hosted by the Missouri School for the Deaf in Fulton, Mo. The Crusaders qualified five individual entries for the state meet this Friday and Saturday in Jefferson City.

Brandon Etzold won the 3,200 meters and finished second in the 1,600 meters for Saxony.

Chaffee had several state qualifiers. On the boys side, Sid Burks won the high jump while Brett Whitaker and Matt Sanders went 1-2 in the discus. For the girls, Natalie Townsend was first in the long jump and second in the triple jump while Amy Holmes won the high jump.

Viburnum won the boys meet; Wellsville topped the girls.
