Ashley Foutch capped an 11-run first inning with a three-run home run as Cape Girardeau Central High's softball team routed visiting Poplar Bluff 17-2 Thursday in a four-inning, run-rule contest.

Central (12-10) combined six hits, five walks and two errors in the opening frame to take control of the game.

Foutch, among four Lady Tigers with two hits, drove in five runs. Katie Dougherty had two doubles and four RBIs; Tricia Klipfel added a triple and three RBIs; and Crissi Matthews had two RBIs.

Winning pitcher Casi Gross allowed just one hit, struck out five and walked four.

Central won the JV contest 13-3 behind the pitching of Laura Beard.

Notre Dame 7, St. Vincent 4

It was the Ramona Blankenship show for Notre Dame.

Blankenship pitched a six-hitter, with three strikeouts and two walks, and she also led Notre Dame's 11-hit attack with three doubles.

Bonnie Essner added two hits for the Lady Bulldogs (9-12).

Jessica Kirn suffered the loss for the Lady Indians (3-14).

Notre Dame's JV romped 15-0 as Amy Young got the win.

St. Pius 12, Perryville 6

FESTUS -- Perryville fell to 9-10 by losing to a strong St. Pius squad.

Stacy Baer continued her impressive offensive season for the Lady Pirates by belting her sixth home run. She had two hits and four RBIs.

Samantha Rehkop, who tripled twice, had three of Perryville's nine hits. Amanda Nuyt added two hits.

Megan Narrow was the losing hurler. She worked 4 2/3 innings, allowing 11 runs and 11 hits.

BOYS SOCCER

Notre Dame 3, Sikeston 1

Two unanswered goals in the second half were too much for Sikeston to overcome as Notre Dame improved to 9-1.

Adam Obermiller scored two goals for the Bulldogs. Cory Elfrink had a goal and two assists.

"We didn't shoot well, but we played well defensively," said Notre Dame coach Brad Wittenborn. "Sikeston has made a lot of progress since the last time we played them."

Notre Dame's JV won 3-0 to improve to 4-2-1. Adam Prasanphanich had two goals while Tyler Cuba scored the other. Paul Unterreiner earned the shutout in goal.

Jackson 4, Farmington 0

JACKSON -- Indian goalie Brian Sander notched a shutout as Jackson evened its record at 5-5-2.

Matt Diebold scored two goals while Matt Gordon and Michael Schuette added one each. Tyler Stearns, Joe Weber, and Matt Diebold chipped in with one assist apiece.

Jackson's JV prevailed 3-2 with Matt Dultry scoring two goals and Jeffrey Beck adding one.

VOLLEYBALL

Woodland 15-15

Chaffee 2-13

CHAFFEE -- Lilo Whitener led Woodland with six kills and three blocks as the Lady Cardinals prevailed in two games.

Sarah Booth was close behind Whitener with five kills while Jessica Bollinger had four kill blocks. Danielle Farrell added six assists and 10 service points. Julia Cutsinger chipped in with five assists.

Woodland's JV squad prevailed 15-10, 15-8.

Windsor 17-15

St. Vincent 15-10

PERRYVILLE -- Despite a spirited effort against a strong Windsor squad, St. Vincent fell in two games.

The Squaws (4-10-2) got a huge performance from Jessica Lakenan. She had 13 kills and only two errors, along with six blocks, nine digs and six service points.

Other leaders for the Squaws were Danielle Sutterer (four kills, four blocks), Cari Strattman (seven service points), Casey Kirn (nine assists, nine digs) and Amie Leible (nine digs).

Windsor's JV prevailed in straight games.

Leopold 15-15

Zalma 10-8

ZALMA -- Leopold improved to 7-3 with a sweep of Zalma.

The Lady Wildcats got eight kills from Emily Broshuis, five kills from Jennifer Elfrink, nine assists from Sarah Gowen and nine digs from Amy Stroder.

Zalma (6-6) was led in kills by Carrie Pixley with eight while Amber Buehler added four. Casey Burchett dished out 12 assists while Erika Campbell served six points.

Leopold's JV triumphed 15-9, 10-15, 15-3.

Scott City 15-16

Oak Ridge 7-14

SCOTT CITY -- Scott City has won four in a row after claiming a two-game victory. The Lady Rams are 5-5-3.

Rachel Spinks had three kills with Cidney Baer and Whitney Baer adding two each.

Marquand 15-15

Lesterville 10-11

LESTERVILLE -- Marquand picked up a victory in two games.

Marquand also won the JV match 15-5, 15-7.

GIRLS TENNIS

Cape Central 8, Farmington 1

FARMINGTON -- Central's Lady Tigers kept on rolling as they remained undefeated in dual matches at 9-0.

The Lady Tigers' JV posted a 6-0 shutout.
