The Notre Dame boys swimming team won only one event at the Show Me Conference meet Thursday at Central Pool, but the Bulldogs came away with the team title.
Notre Dame finished with 303 points and was followed by John Burroughs (302), Central (250), Jackson (229) and Saxony Lutheran (12).
Coleman Schott turned in the lone victory for the Bulldogs as he claimed the 100 breaststroke in 1 minute, 4.91 seconds.
Sam Gramling won the 200 and 500 freestyles for Central, which won four events. Gramling also was a member of the Tigers' winning 400 freestyle relay team, while Matt Deisher turned in the other Central victory in diving.
Jackson won three events as junior Ryan Gibson won the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly in conference record times. Gibson was selected the meet MVP. He swam the 200 individual medley in 2:03.17 and the 100 butterfly in 54.47.
Jackson's Connor McGinnis also turned in a conference record in winning the 100 backstroke in 57.84.
Other first-time state cuts were made by Jackson's Riley Talbut in the 200 freestyle, Jackson's Kristian Troxel in the 100 breaststroke, Central's Jordan Gramling in the 50 freestyle and Notre Dame's Ben Rockett and Dustin Parsons in the 100 butterfly. Notre Dame's Sean Doyle also made the cut in the 100 freestyle, while teammate Collin Andersson accomplished the feat in the 100 breaststroke. Central's Caleb Coots also made the cut in the 100 butterfly.

New Salem opened its season with a 20-point victory in the Thomas Jefferson Tournament in St. Louis.
Dillon Gaines paced New Salem with 26 points, while Bubba Bucholtz netted 14 and Josh Davault had 13.
