Jackson wins individual title at Jaycee tourney

Mitch Jackson of Cape Girardeau shot a second-round 2-over-par 72 Sunday to win the RC Cola Individual Championship at Cape Jaycee Municipal Golf Course.

Jackson, who held a four-shot lead after a 71 on Saturday, posted a 143 total for a six-shot victory over Mike Cotner.

Cotner, also of Cape Girardeau, had rounds of 75 and 74 for a 149 total. He was followed by Bob Englehart (151) and Rocky Strand (156).

Dave Howard (153) of Cape won A flight, Fred Ducharme (161) of Cape claimed B flight, while John Trimble (168) Burfordville finished atop C flight.

Mack finishes fifth in MARS event

Joey Mack of Benton, Mo., placed fifth in the MARS A-Main event July 14 at Bolivar Speedway in Bolivar, Mo.

The finish was the best of the season for Mack in MARS competition. Mack followed that showing up with an eighth-place finish in the A-Main event Saturday at the I44 Speedway in Lebanon, Mo.

Mack is in eighth place in the MARS point standings heading into Sunday's race at the Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Ill.
