Znobia Jane Cook, 89, of Jackson passed away Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, at Jackson Manor Nursing Home.

She was born Aug. 25, 1923, on the family farm outside Antlers, Okla., to George Robert and Bertha Emily Lance Veal. She married Wallace H. Cook on Sept. 12, 1942. He preceded her in death Feb. 26, 2001.

Znobia worked at Martin Aircraft and Tinker Air Field during World War II while her husband served in the European Theater.

Znobia accepted Jesus Christ as her savior and lord early in life. She served others through her volunteer work and church activities. She was active with PTA, Cub Scouts, and Extension Homemakers Unit. She held many positions at her church in Wichita, Kan., including junior high counselor, Sunday-school teacher, UMW president and trustee.

Znobia was a beautician many years in Wichita. She relocated to Jackson in 2002, and moved her church membership to New McKendree United Methodist Church. Her mobility and health prevented her from continuing her volunteer and church work after moving to Jackson. Znobia made many friends while in the nursing homes here through supportive conversations, encouraging comments, a listening ear and her positive attitude.
