ZENO J. HALTER

BENTON -- Zeno J. "Sam" Halter, 88, of Benton died Tuesday, July 23, 1996, at Chateau Girardeau Health Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Dec. 18, 1907, son of Charles and Emma Schlitt Halter. He and Henrietta Schlosser were married May 9, 1933.

Halter was a farmer and member of the St. Denis Catholic Church in Benton, where he resided for many years.

Survivors include his wife; one son, William C. Halter of Commerce; two daughters, Shirley Ann Bucher of Chaffee and Mary Lou Burnett of Crystal City; one brother, Leon Halter of Benton; one sister, Thelma Halter of Cape Girardeau; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Benton after 4 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be said at the funeral home at 6:30 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Denis Catholic Church in Benton by the Rev. Normand Varone. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
