Zene Helderman

ST. LOUIS -- Zene Helderman, 79, of St. Louis, formerly of Jackson, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2016, at the National Healthcare Nursing Home in Park Hills, Missouri.

Zene was born Sept. 13, 1936, at Whitewater to Rowland Dale and Margarette Howard Helderman.

Zene was an honorably discharged veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from Nov. 9, 1954, to Nov. 7, 1958.

He worked on various riverboats over the years and later worked in maintenance at the Foamex plant in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include three sons, Marshall Helderman of St. Louis, Eddie Helderman of French Village, Missouri, and Darrell Helderman of Jackson; a brother, Orren "Bud" Helderman of Montgomery City, Missouri; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Full military honors will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
