THEBES, Ill. -- Zeffie "Zeke" Turner, 71, of Thebes died at 12:20 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6, 2017, at his home.
He was born May 5, 1946, in Piggott, Arkansas, the son of Robert and Vivian Birchett Turner.
Zeffie worked for a General Motors dealership as a mechanic before going on his own as a mobile mechanic. He retired in Alexander County in 1994. He was known for his expertise at the billiard table.
He is survived by his sons, Ryan (Lacy) Turner of Thebes and Robert Turner of Cape Coral, Florida; six grandchildren, Crystal Ethridge, Lauren Turner, Madison Turner, Rollin Turner, Kayden Turner and Reece Turner; brothers, Gerald Turner, Richard Turner and Galen "Bill" Turner; and sister, Ethel Niswonger.
Zeffie was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Everett Donald, Robert Clawd Jr., Dalas and Charles Turner; sisters, Vera Pauline Arnsmeier and Peggy Turner; and his dear friend for many years, Dola Bosecker.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the time of service Friday at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms, Illinois.
Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Diane Blaney officiating. A private inurnment will follow at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the family and will be accepted at the funeral home.
