CACHE, Ill. - Woodrow "Woody" Thrower, 79, of Cache, died Thursday, Jan. 13, at the Union County Hospital in Anna.
Thrower was born Dec. 28, 1914, in Charleston, Mo. to James and Bertha Thrower.
He married Betty Nichols. She survives, along with one son, Dick Black of Chicago; two daughters, Karen Bosecker of Villa Ridge and Jeannie Toler of Dongola; one brother, Donald Thrower of Olive Branch. Six grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive.
Thrower was a member of the Cairo Baptist Church for over 50 years. He was a veteran of World War Two, and a member of the Cairo Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2649. He was a retired highway maintenance worker with the Illinois Department of Transportation.
Friends may call after 5 p.m., Monday, at the Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo.
Funeral services will be held Monday, at 10 a.m., at the funeral home in Cairo, with Dr. Larry L. Potts officiating. Burial will be in the United States National Cemetery at Mound City.
