BERNIE -- Woodford Kirk Flannery, 70, of Bernie died Saturday, June 13, 1998, at Sam A. Baker Park near Patterson.
He was born Jan. 14, 1928, at Sebula, son of Jack and Georgia Era Hendley Flannery. He and Shirley J. Hager Hanna were married Jan. 16, 1978, at New Madrid.
Flannery was a riverboat engineer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in both World War II and the Korean conflict. He was a lifetime member of the D.A.V. chapter 47 at Dexter.
He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church at Bernie.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Leslie D. Flannery of Ashland, Ky., Dogulas Kirk Flannery of Corning, Ark., Scott Flannery of Bernie and Mitchell Flannery of Farmington; four daughters, Rebecca Dorene Woods and Kimberly LaDawn Flannery, both of McClain, Ill., and Michelle Lynn Flannery and Renee Flannery, both of Sikeston; a stepson, James Hanna of Bernie; a stepdaughter, Diana M. Lunsford of St. Louis; a sister, Pauline Miller of Normal, Ill.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, two stepsons and a brother.
Friends may call at Rainey Funeral Home in Bernie from 5 to 8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Randy Master will officiate, with burial in the Bernie Cemetery.
