W.O. Turnage

ORAN, Mo. — W.O. "Dub" Turnage, 89, of Oran died Monday, July 28, 2008, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born June 9, 1919, in Munford, Tenn., son of John Henry and Lillian Bertha Adkins Turnage. He and Katie M. Ray were married Feb. 24, 1960. She preceded him in death May 17, 1992.

Mr. Turnage was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in World War II during the Battle of the Bulge and Normandy.

He was a member of Morley VFW Post 5368 in Morley, Mo.

Survivors include two sons, Jimmy (Joan) Mills of Lumberton, Miss., Robert (Cindy) Turnage of Fairhope, Ala.; four daughters, Terri (Bob) Ressel and Lesa Gruber of Oran, Robin Gruber of Robertsdale, Ala., Shauna (Rick) Smith of Steelville, Ill.; 18 grandchildren, Robert Mills, Kelly Mills, Bill Mason, Ken Mason, Adam Mason, Jackie Ressel, Bobbie Jo Ressel, Lucas Ressel, Jenni Ressel, Jacob Ressel, Jared Gruber, Michael Turnage, Michelle Turnage, Travis Gruber, Adam Gruber, Dalton Misuraca, R.J. Smith Jr. and Hunter Smith. He also had 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.

Visitation will be at 4 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Randy Eskew officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens near Morley, with military graveside rites by Missouri Military Honors Program.
