Wintress Daugherty

Wintress Daugherty, 91, of Jackson, formerly of Scott City, passed away Friday, Oct. 2, 2015, at the Monticello House in Jackson.

She was born Dec. 10, 1923, in Dexter, Missouri, to Roy J. and Etta Crews Carney.

Wintress was a 1942 graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School and a 1944 graduate of Cape Business College.

She and William "Bill" W. Daughtery were married Sept. 3, 1945. Bill was employed with Texas Eastern Pipeline, so the couple moved several times, as the pipeline occasionally transferred Bill. While living 11 years in Eldorado, Arkansas, Wintress was active with The Rebekahs. Later, Wintress and Bill returned to the Cape Girardeau area. They had been married 37 years when he passed away March 23, 1983.

Wintress was always affiliated with the Episcopal faith and was most recently a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Cape Girardeau.

Loving survivors include a granddaughter, Alaina Reddick of Kansas City, Missouri, and a son-in-law, Brad Farrar of Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her daughter, Annette Farrar, on Aug. 6, 2014; and her parents.

The Rev. Edie Bird will officiate a graveside service at 11 a.m. Thursday at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Southeast Hospice.
