Winniefred C. Stout, 94, of Mound City, Ill., died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born Nov. 14, 1911, in New York City, daughter of James A. and Bessie Hogg Connell. She and J. Paul Stout were married and he preceded her in death...

Winniefred C. Stout, 94, of Mound City, Ill., died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Nov. 14, 1911, in New York City, daughter of James A. and Bessie Hogg Connell. She and J. Paul Stout were married and he preceded her in death.

Stout was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church in Villa Ridge, the Queen of Egypt Chapter 509 of the Order of the Eastern Star in Mound City, the Mound City Woman's Club and the Mound City Library Board. She was also the volunteer treasurer for the Pulaski County Chapter of the American Red Cross for many years.

Survivors include two daughters, Alice Cox of Cairo, Ill., and Caroline Dakin of Mound City; a son, John Dean Stout of Westerville, Ohio; a sister, Evelyn McCollum of Paducah, Ky.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a grandson and a great-grandson.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at Barkett Funeral Home in Mound City.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Larry Miller officiating. Interment will be at the Beechwood Cemetery in Mounds, Ill.
